Steambath and a Show

It was the hottest day of the year!
I’m still worn out from this year’s concert, but here are few notes about the day…
Mike did a more elaborate tailgate than usual, hooking up an inverter to his car battery to power a fan and his Frozen Concoction Maker.  The parking lot was definitely a Barometer Soup and I’m not ashamed to admit I drank a lot more water than Landsharks or margaritas.  We didn’t do a lot of wandering around, clinging too much to the shade of our canopy, but I still plan on whipping up another tailgate video soon.  Watch this space.  Maybe.
The crowd rallied enough to be loud and appreciative by show time; but the people around me were lame and sat down way too often.
Even after sundown, it was still quite hot.  We recorded a podcast from the parking lot, but we sound so beat that it makes for some less than exciting listening.
For now, here’s a batch of photos I took of the day, in our photo gallery.  A far cry from last year’s front row seats, but oh well…
And, ultimately, as always, it was a pleasure and a hell of an evening.

There’s Nothing Soft About Hard Teas, Part 2

I promised a review of the new Margaritaville products that I stumbled upon in Florida last week, so here you go:
Margaritaville Spiked Tea:  Kind of a tea-like flavor.  Lightly carbonated.  On the sweet side.  I found it to be quite refreshing.  Great right from the bottle or over ice.  This product is more like Mike’s Hard Iced Tea than it is like Twisted Tea.  If I had to rank it among these, I would put it after Twisted Tea and before Mike’s.  I would buy this again.
Margaritaville Spiked Lemonade:  Not as sweet as some competitors.  In fact, I found it to have a bitter edge to it.  Descent lemon flavor comes through.  Lightly carbonated.  I didn’t care for the first one I had.  I would not be able to drink a few of these in a row.  Later in the week I gave it another chance over ice.  That was better.  Definitely more refreshing that way.  Not sure I would buy this again, but wouldn’t turn one down if someone offered it.  I would add ice though.
There you have it.  Keep an eye out for it when shopping.  Maybe it will be in Michigan soon.  I would be interested in your opinions too.

Mike’s M’ville Eyewear Review

Mike got himself a pair of Margaritaville Eyewear recently.  Here he is, showing them off.

We weren’t able to record a new episode last night (since one or two of us had family matters to attend to) but we at least got this little video recorded.  Here are some other photos from our mini-cast.

2011 Radio Ad(s)

Having learned yesterday, via Buffett World, that WOMC 104.3 had broken the news of a July 21 Pine Knob concert, I kept my recorder tuned to WOMC this morning to attempt capturing this year’s radio commercial.  I recorded four hours this morning (an hour forty-five of which was silence…grrrr) and another two hours this afternoon.  WOMC broadcast the ad at 12:40 PM.

The ad is shorter than usual, only :30, and I’m not sure if this is a cost-saving measure or if there might be a :60 version out there too.  There was no newspaper ad this morning in the Detroit Free Press so I’m keeping an eye out for that as well.
Update: I managed to catch the :60 version Friday, March 11, on WCSX 94.7.  I recorded six hours of them this morning and, listening back to the files, encountered the ad after only fourteen minutes (having aired at around 6:20 AM, I guess).  Quite the opposite of how it usually goes…

“It’s Sipping Good”

Mike, Scott, and Schmoe try out Roger Clyne’s new Mexican Moonshine tequila.  Recorded Wednesday, October 27 2010, at Zodiac; with cameos by Joe Maj, James, and Jennifer.  (Video might not be quite up to snuff; it was recorded on a cellphone.)
