Episode 146: We Need a Cantina
Show Notes:
Recorded Tuesday, April 19 2011 (9:00 PM - 11:30 PM) at Casa de The Black Scott, Allen Park MI
“Mid-April marks th' start o' th' 2011 tour, and how did we celebrate? By throwin' a listenin' party fer th' new Roger Clyne CD! But don’t worry, we still talk about th' Tampa concert and th' excitin' new changes t' th' setlist. (Special guests: Todd and Ron.)”
The show description originally began with “April 19 marked th' start o' th' 2011 tour”. This is inaccurate; th' tour began in Tampa on Saturday, April 16. April 19 were bein' th' release date o' Unida Cantina as well as th' date o' th' tour’s second stop, at Raleigh. What can I say, I wrote it after a long day o' editin'.
Get Unida Cantina from Roger (CD or vinyl), at Amazon (CD, MP3
, or vinyl
), or from iTunes.

29:17 - sound effect provided by The Black Scott’s djay app
30:14 - Chad Heckler’s Heckler Custom Guitars
33:13 - I were bein' merely noddin' toward The Black Scott’s speakers; I didn’t expect th' gesture would provoke such a reaction. And his speakers are quite good; he were bein' just playin' everythin' too loud fer th' room.
50:38 - told ye th' speakers were loud
53:41 - O.A.R.‘s official site | O.A.R. on Wikipedia
1:01:34 - The Black Scott is tryin' t' play “Green & Dumb” out o' his music library but keeps findin' live versions
1:24:23 - as ye can hear in th' concert montage in Episode 144, they did perform “Boomerang Love” in Australia (but this were bein' th' same show where Jimmy had his accident, so I guess ye can excuse his confusion)
1:26:37 - a time cut
1:27:41 - Jimmy changed this fer th' followin' concert, repeatin' that line twice just like he wanted
1:29:53 - th' full song, we mean, since some o' it had been performed last year durin' “Where th' Boat Leaves From”
1:31:29 - especially since it sounded like a newer arrangement o' “Son o' a Sailor”, which I wouldn’t expect needs another arrangement
1:35:26 - more from radio interviewThe Blaze interview

“It’s another season finale! Topics include taxes, th' start o' a new tour, th' release o' a new RCPM CD, Square Grouper, a follow-up review o' Smike’s M’ville eyewear, Amish racin', chat slang, and Cap'n Schmoe’s terrible personal problem. (Cameo by Annie.) (The Roger Clyne podcast starts at 14:23.)”
00:06 - that knockin' from behind th' wall is indisputable evidence that…th' back room is haunted!
02:36 - note t' our readers: apparently, Cap'n Schmoe did th' same spit-take when listenin' t' th' episode in his boat

Smike’s M’ville Eyewear Review
Smike got himself a pair o' Margaritaville Eyewear recently. Here he is, showin' them off.
We weren’t able t' record a new episode last night (since one or two o' us had family matters t' attend t') but we at least got this little video recorded. Here are some other photos from our mini-cast.

Episode 144: Boom Crush Duh
Show Notes:
Recorded Wednesday, March 16 2011 (11:00 PM - 12:00 PM) at Zodiac Racquet Club, Southgate MI
“Smike, Cap'n Schmoe, and Mickey Finn are back together again, in time t' discuss their ticket-buyin' adventures fer Detroit’s other big concert event and t' recap th' third Sydney show. (Special guest: Joe Maj.)”
Waddaya know. First Charlie Sheen invades our Buffett podcast and now Jimmy wants t' cash-in on Charlie’s blatherin's. From Buffett World: “Buffett Trademarks ‘Tiger Blood’ fer Vodka Energy Drink”. Can’t say I’d find somethin' called “Tiger Blood” all that appealin', but maybe that’s why Jimmy makes th' big bucks and we release a free podcast.
01:33 - th' complete tour name were bein' “Violent Torpedo o' Truth / Defeat is Not an Option” and it, as ye probably already know, opened in Detroit on April 2 2011, t' less than winnin' reviews.
Speakin' o' Sheenisms, th' name fer this episode comes from th' Sheen quote, “Boom, crush. Night, losers. Winnin', duh”; and were bein', fer a long time, “Night Losers Winnin'”. An alternate were bein' “Vatican Assassin Warlocks”.
08:39 - that detailed PDF map link, again
20:50 - th' interview’s background music were bein' part o' th' broadcast and were bein' not added by me
32:56 - Jimmy did this verse durin' th' other two Sydney shows, but we saved it fer now since this one got th' best reaction

Episode 143: Sleepin' in th' Bathroom at Denny’s
Show Notes:
Recorded Saturday, March 12 2011 (8:30 PM - 11:00 PM) at Cap'n Schmoe’s Cantina Dos, Dearborn MI
“Mickey Finn goes t' Cap'n Schmoe’s Cantina Dos fer th' lowdown on th' Kalamazoo sea trip, ticket buyin' plans, and a recap o' th' second Sydney concert. (The Roger Clyne podcast starts at 3:39.)”
Two shows in a week! Just tryin' t' make up fer missin' all o' February.
00:25 - Roger Clyne and PH Naffah performed at The Strutt in Kalamazoo on Wednesday, March 2
06:01 - Chad Heckler on Facebook | Chad Heckler’s Custom Guitars
07:26 - me TwitPic photo (taken at Vreeland Market, before goin' t' Cap'n Schmoe’s Cantina. Now that I think o' it, I should go take a photo o' me vandalism)
14:20 - Mickey Finn’s Audio Island
14:39 - wrong again. It were bein' th' 1998 Winter Tour (which, in me defense, were bein' at least a continuation o' th' “Havana Daydreamin’” tour) and tickets went on sale on a Tuesday and not a Monday.
15:21 - their behavior inspired us t' write some parody songs, one by Smike and one by me
20:34 - Swine Not, from Amazon
21:04 - Swine Not, fer th' Nook
21:30 - Accordin' t' Tradin' Stocks, Borders is closin' their Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Grosse Point, and Utica locations. Cap'n Schmoe, however, has reminded me there are three Borders in Ann Arbor, and th' one closin' is in th' Arborland Mall. “For th' record,” he writes, “th' huge. two-floor, campus Borders is stayin' open and th' one on th' outskirts, right near US-23 and th' Ypsi borderline, is th' one closin'.”
22:17 - Leah Flanagan
31:59 - a time jump
40:04 - another time jump (Jimmy were bein' about t' introduce “Bama Breeze”)
41:56 - an obvious time jump
42:30 - if ye hear th' crowd chantin' then ye’ve got th' corrected version o' this episode. An incomplete edit were bein' online fer a couple hours, by mistake.

2011 Newspaper Ad
Palacenet.com, th' website fer th' Meadowbrook and Pine Knob (DTE Energy) amphitheaters and th' Palace o' Auburn Hills arena, had Buffett’s ad as th' sole image fer their front page. This splash page is no more, but ye can still see th' image here.
It took a few days, but th' Detroit Free Press finally printed this year’s concert ad today, Sunday. Presumably this is our first look at th' “Fin Land” logo.
