Embittered Man

Sung to the tune of Jimmy Buffett's "Remittance Man" off the Barometer Soup album.
This song too is in response to the unbelievably bad layout of the old Buckeye Lake, OH, concert field; as is this companion piece.

Standing in a huge mob
sitting in a car
He could wish that he were moving
But he'll never get too far

Herded in like cattle
into some narrow gates
He thinks some extra entrances
would shorten up this wait

(Chorus)
Embittered man
Vows to not do this again
Life is much too short for all this crap
Embittered man
Why aren't we moving now?
The night went in the can for the embittered man

(Verse)
Trudging through a slime pit
missing half the show
Works his way all down the lawn
to reach his reserved row
Sees the show under the rain
and sings his favorite songs
Then herded to the parking lot
for a wait that's twice as long

(Chorus)
Embittered man
Vows to not do this again
He can't believe this goes on every show
Embittered man
How long can this go on?
This is more than he had planned for the embittered man

(Bridge)
He really hates to moan and fuss and shout
But by now they really should've worked this out
A parking lot with all those cars should be cleared you'd think under five hours
Would it kill them to add just a few more lanes?

(Verse)
So now he's stuck inside his car
wishing he could quit
He wants to merge into a lane
but no one's moved a bit

Someone must be exiting
but here he's forced to stay
and there sits his I-70
not a hundred yards away

All the cars have to converge
in a single muddy path
"There should be some more exits"
is the motto of his wrath

At last the cars are moving
A stunning three hour wait
The time it took to leave the lot
is the same to cross the state

(Chorus)
Embittered man
Vows to not do this again
Two years is quite enough to go through this
Embittered man
With still four hours to go
This is more than he can stand
This is more than he can stand
This is more than he can stand
The embittered man
