I’m getting the Gigabyte GA-8KNXP after all. This was the first board I found, during my searches, and none of the other boards really impressed me enough to change my mind. (The other boards have nice overclocking features, but I doubt I’ll ever use those.) And after all the reported BIOS problems, I like the fact the Gigabyte board has a “Dual BIOS” feature, which retains an on-board copy of the original BIOS so I’ll always have it to fall back upon.
I also ordered a power supply. I’ll probably have to wait for my next paycheck before I order the P4 3.0GB processor. I’m ordering through Upgrade Source.com, which, as above, was the first site I found during my searches. I was puzzled that I never got an e-mail confirmation from them last night, but then I discovered this morning that apparently my order did not go through. When I checked my shopping cart I discovered my selections were still in it! I swear I went through all the steps, but evidently there was some final button I needed to click (which is somewhat embarrassing since I’m hardly a novice at online shopping). I repeated the process this morning — and did get an instant e-mail confirmation — but with my luck I’ll probably end up being charged twice.
Revision 1.2.2 [1:24 PM]: I finally found an explanation of what those RAM limitations are. This is straight from the Kingston site:

System Memory Configuration

Standard Memory:

0MB (Removable)

Maximum Memory:

2GB using current 400MHz DDR modules
4GB using 333MHz DDR modules

Expansion:

6 Sockets (3 banks of 2)

Central Processor:

Intel Pentium 4 Intel 875P

Bus Architecture:

AGP; PCI

Mfgr\\’s System P/N\\’s:

N/A

I took the plunge and ordered my motherboard last night.
