While we North Coasters could only listen to the grand opening of the new M’ville Casino on Radio Margaritaville, Our Man in Biloxi was there taking photos.
Thanks, DOM Coon.

I’ve been recording WCSX since Saturday, but I got the new commercial off WYCD after only an hour! From 99.5 WYCD Detroit’s Country, at 6:10 EDT this morning…
Update: a slightly improved version of this commercial, recorded at around 11:40 AM EDT (also off WYCD), was added to the podcast feed, at around 4:10 PM.
Here’s the ad from the Detroit Free Press Sunday edition, Entertainment section, page 5E.

Tailgating starts at 8 AM?!?!? Could there be such a thing as too much partying? Those poor parking lot attendants don’t know what they’re in for.
Update: from the concert page at the Olympia Entertainment website, here’s the website splash page ad and the webpage banner ad.
The rumor at Buffett World has come true.
It was announced today that Jimmy Buffett will be playing Comerica Park on Saturday, July 28. And for any naysayers who were afraid there would not be any tailgating, the promoters are promising “[a] daylong ‘Buffett’s Beach Party’ will be held on the grounds outside Comerica Park, where a lounge, margarita tastings, midway games and other frills will be in place for the legion of partying Parrothead fans.”
Here’s the Detroit News‘s write-up. Here’s the Detroit Free Press‘s.
And this banner was on the Freep’s front page.

My apologies for the less than optimal quality, but the appearance happens during a camera pan and it was tough to get a sharp image.
Always striving to bring you the latest in six nine-month-old news, here’s something we should’ve talked about back in the Summer Spring…except no one I know saw this movie when it came out.
Here’s an image caught last night while watching the Blu-ray of Battle: Los Angeles. Click to see a larger version. (Quality is not the best since the still was taken with a cell phone.)

It was the hottest day of the year!
I’m still worn out from this year’s concert, but here are few notes about the day…
Mike did a more elaborate tailgate than usual, hooking up an inverter to his car battery to power a fan and his Frozen Concoction Maker. The parking lot was definitely a Barometer Soup and I’m not ashamed to admit I drank a lot more water than Landsharks or margaritas. We didn’t do a lot of wandering around, clinging too much to the shade of our canopy, but I still plan on whipping up another tailgate video soon. Watch this space. Maybe.
The crowd rallied enough to be loud and appreciative by show time; but the people around me were lame and sat down way too often.
Even after sundown, it was still quite hot. We recorded a podcast from the parking lot, but we sound so beat that it makes for some less than exciting listening.
For now, here’s a batch of photos I took of the day, in our photo gallery. A far cry from last year’s front row seats, but oh well…
And, ultimately, as always, it was a pleasure and a hell of an evening.

With the holiday fast approaching, here’s that old video again for those in our area…
