    I’m just guessing at the date here, but this is an interview segment aired on CNN, from the Feeding Frenzy era. There’s a heavy edit in the middle of it, where you can hear Jimmy about to say something; but that’s the way it is on my tape.

    Don’t know when this rerun was recorded, but the original airing was November 16 1990.

    Here’s the TV ad for Jimmy Buffett’s second appearance at The Palace of Auburn Hills (his first appearance being the one discussed in the previous entry). The ending is truncated, but I believe what the announcer was going to say was “Great Scott stores” — a supermarket chain that has since gone out of business.

    We’d read in the newspaper that Jimmy Buffett would be making an appearance at the Metropolitcan Music Café, in Royal Oak, to put his hand or foot prints in their Walk of Fame. The printed announcement had been so tiny we hoped it might have gone by unnoticed and we’d get our chance to meet and get close to our hero.
    I borrowed my brother’s fancy new RCA camcorder — the old kind you have to wear on your shoulder — to document the event. But what I documented was our big long four hour wait for nothing.
    Nevertheless, check out how thin we were, check out our giant glasses, and check out the snazzy and almost-responsive macrofocus that fascinated me so much…
