Episode 196: Show Short Call Now

Show Notes:
Recorded Wednesday, October 1 2014 (10:45 – 11:15 PM) at Zodiac Racquet Club, Southgate MI
“Such a short show hardly seems worth the two-week turnaround, but the boys discuss headlines and the middle two shows of the tour’s fourth leg. (Cameo by Annie.)

Here’s Mac’s attempt at Viking haberdashery:

August 23, Jones Beach NY

The bonus ending comes from episode 314 of the Comedy Bang Bang podcast, with Scott Aukerman, Paul F Tompkins, and Cameron Esposito.

Episode 195: Schmoe di Tutto

Show Notes:
Recorded Wednesday, August 20 2014 (10:30 – 11:30 PM) at Drinks Saloon, Brownstown MI
“The boys finally get around to discussing month-old news stories, two recent fourcast questions, and the latest concerts from the fourth leg of the tour.

Schmoe inadvertently inspires a title that coincidentally honors Robin Williams. An alternate title was “The Schmoey with the Spinning Head”.

Episode 194: Pole Position

Show Notes:
Recorded Wednesday, August 6 2014 (10:00 – 12:00 AM) at Cantina Hud, Trenton MI
“A mega-episode as Mickey, Schmoe, Mike, and special guest Hud go into ridiculous detail discussing the July 26 Jimmy Buffett show at Comerica Park, Detroit MI.

I got confused between Detroit Guitars in Birmingham and all the golfing, dining, and hoteling was in Bloomfield.
Here’s the Groupon (or Living Social?) ad Schmoe sent us. I’ve never seen him use so many f-bombs in a text before.

“This groupon was a[n] ass fucking wrapped in an email”

Parrothead Tailgate (Comerica Park 2014)

Our 2014 tailgating video has been edited and uploaded. It’s longer than usual but this year I had more time to walk around and catch the sights…

Update: D’oh! Stupid presets ruined the audio on the YouTube version (during the concert bits). For a while, I covered that up here with the Vimeo version, but I’ve since uploaded a revised version. That’s the one you can play above. The Vimeo version is included just for the heck of it. (The original version has been marked as Private, and will probably be deleted soon. (Sorry, Listener Mat. Your kind comment will have to go with it.)

Thursday Play

The Detroit Free Press’s “Play” section has several Buffett mentions today, promoting this Saturday’s concert at Comerica Park…

No, the James Taylor photo is not there by mistake

The Colbear Report

Normally we’d put these Buffett mentions at the end of a podcast episode, but this one’s a bit too visual. Here’s a clip from Tuesday’s The Colbert Report (July 15 2014):

Episode 192: Dealing With a Third Leg

Show Notes:
Recorded Wednesday, July 9 2014 (10:30 – 11:30 PM) at Joe’s Prime Time, Gibraltar MI
“Latest news, Comerica plans, and the last two concerts from the second leg of the tour.

“It’s a Thing” was in the running for show title, but it was deemed to be too much like Episode 183.
    This year’s TV commercial.
“Buffett’s restaurant in Waikiki to close”, at Buffett News. “Jimmy Buffett’s at The Beachcomber in Hawaii to Close”, at Buffett World.
“Buffett Files to Trademark ‘Coral Reefer’”, at Buffett World.
Here’s a clip of “Summer Overture” from that Margaritaville TV capture (matching the concert montage edit). (Look here for the complete concert video.)

The new location of my old Mickey’s Audio Island site, which, yes, I admit, really needs to be revamped and updated.
As for Chicago, Jimmy’s a cappella “Oh my lordy” preceded “Too Drunk to Karaoke”; as you can kind of tell, the “Mac McAnallius” followed “Little Martha”.
Schmoe’s favorite caption, as seen in our WAOTNC Photo Gallery.
Interview with Paul Sabourin from the A Bit of a Chat with Ken Plume podcast. Get your potential band names from Wikipedia’s Girl Scout Cookies entry. The complete “Buffett Night (Tonight I’m a Parrothead)” song can be found on Paul & Storm’s 2005 album Opening Band. (Get it from Amazon [US]. Get it from iTunes [US].)

Episode 191: Terra di Tre Vulcani

Show Notes:
Recorded Monday, June 30 2014
“A mini-episode, covering the first part of the second leg of the tour.

Yes, Latin would be more appropriate; but I liked Italian better.
“Buffett’s new Beverly Hills home”, via Buffett News | “Buffett Purchases Beverly Hills Home”, via Buffett World.
Jimmy’s Tonight Show interview segment (via YouTube), plus Volcano, Jolly Mon, and Margaritaville (via NBC.com)
Margaritaville.com’s Live at the Drive-In page
A seamless edit at 3:27, don’t you think?
The “Swampgatorville” mention is from a much earlier introduction but I liked the sound of it enough to crudely jam it into the “Down on the Corner” intro
