BONUS: 2017 Radio Ad

I caught the “standard” radio commercial today.
Once again I was monitoring WCSX 94.7 FM, and it aired at around 10:50 AM.

Notice the change in sound quality? This recording is a bit cleaner, without any booming bass. I bought myself a new boombox last Christmas, with a cool Bluetooth feature where I can send it music off my phone. I was looking forward to seeing how it work in recording these commercials — especially since my old boombox didn’t have a working antenna! I was hoping I’d get a clearer signal, with less hiss, but instead I got the booming bass heard in the pre-sale commercial, below. I thought WCSX was overdoing it with the compression, but it turns out I unknowingly had had the boombox’s “Mega Bass” feature activated! So it was all my fault. Today’s recording was done without any augmentation.

BONUS: 2017 Presale Radio Ad

You think we’ve been away too long? I forgot how to post a blog entry and upload stuff!
But here you go, fresh off my SD card — this year’s radio ad for this year’s tour, recorded off WCSX 94.7 FM, tonight, at around 8:20 PM (EDT). Unlike most years it includes pre-sale information, which makes me think I might have to listen for a “straight” radio ad next week.
(See if you can guess where the music bed comes from…)

Anyone else confused by all those numbers, dates, and caveats? It’s like the list of side effects in a prescription drug commercial!

Episode 215: Viz. the SeaSick

Show Notes:
Recorded December 14 2016 (10:15 – 11:30 PM) at Zodiac Racquet Club, Southgate MI
“The gang is back! Join Santa Schmoe, Holiday Hud, Merry Mike, and Mistletoe Mickey as they review the new Jimmy Buffett Christmas album ’Tis the SeaSon. (Guest voices: Jennifer, Joe Maj, Lee, and a cast of three or four more).

Did Mickey say Robert G’s Coral Reefer Christmas came out “last year”? Make that 2010! Yikes!

Episode 214: Lot Casting

Show Notes:
Recorded June 18 2016 at Clarkston MI
“The post-concert parking lot podcast with Mike and Mickey, and with cameos by Schmoe and Patti.

If you get bored during this one, just keep in mind the original audio file was two hours seventeen minutes long!
As before, the one music clip was edited for time.

A Pleasure and a Hell of an Evening (2016 Edition)

Some stuff I Instagram’d, mostly from the day after since I can never get a connection when I’m at a concert…

Episode 213: April “Rain”s

Show Notes:
Recorded June 12-13 2016
“We finish up the Working and Playing tour with the four shows of the spring leg in April. Next stop and the 2016 tour and Jimmy Buffett’s Detroit stop!

I totally forgot to record the Alabama show, and am indebted to SunLover, at the Buffett News discussion board, for use of his MP3s.
As always, some clips have been edited for time.

Episode 210: Our Whole Feed Lies Waiting

Show Notes:
Recorded February 24, 26 2016
“Holy crap, it’s a new episode! Yeah, it’s only Mickey again, but at least it covers three and a half concert montages. That’s better than nothing…right? (Special appearances by Mike, Schmoe, Larry, and Crystal.)

Cold open taken from the Season 3 DVDs of IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang!. The voices are Scott Aukerman, Patton Oswalt, and Reggie Watts.

BONUS: 2016 Radio Ad

Recorded today at around 8:35 AM, off WCSX 94.7. It’s the :30 version; hopefully I’ll be able to catch the full :60 version later.

Update (2/25): after monitoring WOMC 104.3 for almost six hours on Wednesday morning and WYCD 99.5 for over six hours this morning, it appears the :30 version is indeed the only version this tear.
