18:50 – the first of many. many, many breast glitter mentions. Almost lost in the archives is this cellphone video from Mike:

(We don’t know those women, by the way. They’re just average customers.)
I also only recently re-discovered these photos Schmoe had sent me.

From Schmoe’s crappy old cellphone

“Scott’s back, joining the gang in time to talk about next week’s Pine Knob concert and to look at the Frisco and Atlanta shows. (Special guests: Annie and Todd. Cameo by Jennifer.)

01:29 – those sounds are from Scott fidgeting with the GarageBand app on his iPad
03:08 – it’s actually Scott’s iPad camera that is being pointed at Annie. Later, I tried to fluster her by aiming my camera at her too.
04:58Where the Hell is Matt? (Detroit shows up at 1:13 in the the 2012 video. …And, no, we were unable to attend.)
05:27 – Schmoe doesn’t know the reference?! (Hint: “Holly came from Miami, F.L.A.” is the first line of Lou Reed’s “Walk on the Wild Side”.)

50:05 – Cuyahoga Falls is thirty-six miles south of Cleveland and five miles north of Akron

38:50 – another time cut
39:29 – that was my iPhone! Good thing it tumbled onto the wooden floor of the tiki bar rather than the cement of the patio!
40:44 – actually, the power apparently came back on less than a half hour before this

Recorded Wednesday, June 1 2011 (10:00 PM – 12:00 AM) at Zodiac Racquet Club, Southgate MI

He was cited by President Nixon in 1969 for pioneering the use of horseradish in all model cement products to curb glue-sniffing among American youths.”
07:51 – “Buffett & ZBB Nominated for CMT Music Award“, from Buffett News | “Buffett Earns CMT Music Award Nomination with Zac Brown Band“, from Buffett World.     23:19M’ville Footwear
24:53 – a few notes from the April 30 Kansas City MO concert: Jimmy finally says “Kar-dash-ian” instead of “Ka-dar-shian” (during the new “Off to See the Lizard” verse), “Trying to Reason” reappeared in the setlist, and the “we’ll be dead by then” line is from Jimmy’s band intros at the end of the show

57:95 – clip comes from EW‘s “Inside TV” podcast, near the end of the April 29 2011 episode

Episode 147: But, Anyway…

Show Notes:
Recorded Sunday, May 15 2011 (4:00 PM – 5:00 PM) at Cantina Dos, Dearborn MI
“Hud joins us, as Mike talks about his trip to Florida and we recap the first leg of the Fin Land tour.

00:27 – Scott’s ran the Relay for Life that morning; he thought he could make it, but then changed his mind
00:58 – sorry about the whistling, but I’d been playing the Tremé soundtrack for Mike and had “Skokiaan” on the brain
02:04 – Mike is talking about this photo, from his collection
    04:41our Twitter page
04:52Mike’s spiked tea photos, in our gallery
    05:28Mike’s review, from earlier
07:04 – We have recorded over 232 GBs of audio since we started. (I’m not sure what this works out to time-wise; I’m too afraid to drag all of it into iTunes or too lazy to calculate it.) Out of that, we have 76 GBs of edited shows in uncompressed CD quality, which then comes down to less than four and a half gigabytes of MP3 podcast files.
08:38Mike’s Sloppy Joe’s photo, in our gallery
    11:24Gatorscafe.com
    11:43KingGatorVision’s channel on YouTube
11:57 – a time cut since the video was taking so long to load
12:16Mike’s Kirk Adams photo, in our gallery
12:21 – Kirk Adams’s “Mexican Wrestler“, from MySpace
12:51M’ville sunglasses display photo, in our gallery
13:28M’ville salt photo, in our gallery
24:48 – Jimmy’s first discussion of Wisconsin’s cheese trees can be heard in Episode 132B.
29:40 – “Lady I Can’t Explain”, performed that night for the first time, is heavily edited here for brevity
    31:23In Harm’s Way, at IMDb.com
36:54 – not the all-night party we mention, but the one from the following year (1984), from Mickey’s college archives:

Your future podcasting team: Greg (left), Schmoe (second from left), Mike (third from right), and Mickey (right)

46:04 – not a mistake, just an edit for time
50:19 – our notes from last year suggest the guy’s name is Doug, and he shows up in the parking lot podcast at the end of Episode 131
51:22Square Grouper on Amazon, Netflix, Blockbuster Online, and IMDb

Episode 146: We Need a Cantina

Show Notes:
Recorded Tuesday, April 19 2011 (9:00 PM – 11:30 PM) at Casa de Scott, Allen Park MI
“Mid-April marks the start of the 2011 tour, and how did we celebrate? By throwing a listening party for the new Roger Clyne CD! But don’t worry, we still talk about the Tampa concert and the exciting new changes to the setlist. (Special guests: Todd and Ron.)

The show description originally began with “April 19 marked the start of the 2011 tour”. This is inaccurate; the tour began in Tampa on Saturday, April 16. April 19 was the release date of Unida Cantina as well as the date of the tour’s second stop, at Raleigh. What can I say, I wrote it after a long day of editing.
Get Unida Cantina from Roger (CD or vinyl), at Amazon (CD, MP3, or vinyl), or from iTunes.
Learn more about Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers.

01:56a much better photo than I remember, from @peacemakerjd on Twitter
02:14fan photo from RCPM’s sombrerofied Salt River Fields concert, April 16 2011
    04:35 – RCPM’s Watering Hole discussion board
06:20radio interview from The Blaze, ASU’s Alternative Radio 1330 AM, March 24 2011
    20:01 – a time cut
    23:29 – Eddie Money’s “I Think I’m in Love”
29:17 – sound effect provided by Scott’s djay app
    30:14 – Chad Heckler’s Heckler Custom Guitars
33:13 – I was merely nodding toward Scott’s speakers; I didn’t expect the gesture would provoke such a reaction. And his speakers are quite good; he was just playing everything too loud for the room.
50:38 – told you the speakers were loud
    53:41O.A.R.’s official site | O.A.R. on Wikipedia
1:01:34 – Scott is trying to play “Green & Dumb” out of his music library but keeps finding live versions
1:24:23 – as you can hear in the concert montage in Episode 144, they did perform “Boomerang Love” in Australia (but this was the same show where Jimmy had his accident, so I guess you can excuse his confusion)
    1:26:37 – a time cut
1:27:41 – Jimmy changed this for the following concert, repeating that line twice just like he wanted
1:29:53 – the full song, we mean, since some of it had been performed last year during “Where the Boat Leaves From”
1:31:29 – especially since it sounded like a newer arrangement of “Son of a Sailor”, which I wouldn’t expect needs another arrangement
1:35:26 – more from The Blaze radio interview

Episode 145: Doing the TFE2E Thing

Show Notes:
Recorded Wednesday, April 13 2011 (10:00 PM – 11:30 PM) at Zodiac Racquet Club, Southgate MI
“It’s another season finale! Topics include taxes, the start of a new tour, the release of a new RCPM CD, Square Grouper, a follow-up review of Mike’s M’ville eyewear, Amish racing, chat slang, and Schmoe’s terrible personal problem. (Cameo by Annie.) (The Roger Clyne podcast starts at 14:23.)

00:06 – that knocking from behind the wall is indisputable evidence that…the back room is haunted!
02:36 – note to our readers: apparently, Schmoe did the same spit-take when listening to the episode in his car
03:00 – “April 16 is Jimmy Buffett Day in Florida“, from Buffett News | “Florida Congressman Proposes ‘Jimmy Buffett Day’“, from Buffett World
    04:39 – nope
    05:29 – nope
    05:34 – nope
05:50 – “Are Sharks Mammals or Fish“, from Buzzle.com
05:59 – for the record, I meant a cover of Heart’s “Barracuda” and not Jimmy’s own “My Barracuda”
06:41 – “Buffett Performs StageIt event in St Bart’s“, from Buffett News | “Buffett Helps Demo StageIt at SXSW“, from Buffett World

13:05Square Grouper at Amazon (DVD or instant), Netflix, and IMDb
    14:54AZ Peacemakers.com | Peacetimegoods.com
    17:52 – “Mike’s eyewear video again
18:29 – a reference to the old commercial for BluBlockers sunglasses
    21:09M’ville Lifestyle.com
26:17 – it’s Annie, the beer girl at Wesburn Golf Course
26:47 – Annie references her studies in squamous and cuboidal cells
27:55 – I guess she’s thinking of the sign at Northville Downs
    31:37 – meanwhile, I’m picturing this

Episode 144: Boom Crush Duh

Show Notes:
Recorded Wednesday, March 16 2011 (11:00 PM – 12:00 PM) at Zodiac Racquet Club, Southgate MI
“Mike, Schmoe, and Mickey are back together again, in time to discuss their ticket-buying adventures for Detroit’s other big concert event and to recap the third Sydney show. (Special guest: Joe Maj.)

Waddaya know. First Charlie Sheen invades our Buffett podcast and now Jimmy wants to cash-in on Charlie’s blatherings. From Buffett World: “Buffett Trademarks ‘Tiger Blood’ for Vodka Energy Drink“. Can’t say I’d find something called “Tiger Blood” all that appealing, but maybe that’s why Jimmy makes the big bucks and we release a free podcast.
01:33 – the complete tour name was “Violent Torpedo of Truth / Defeat is Not an Option” and it, as you probably already know, opened in Detroit on April 2 2011, to less than winning reviews.
Speaking of Sheenisms, the name for this episode comes from the Sheen quote, “Boom, crush. Night, losers. Winning, duh”; and was, for a long time, “Night Losers Winning”. An alternate was “Vatican Assassin Warlocks”.
08:39 – that detailed PDF map link, again
20:50 – the interview’s background music was part of the broadcast and was not added by me
32:56 – Jimmy did this verse during the other two Sydney shows, but we saved it for now since this one got the best reaction

Episode 143: Sleeping in the Bathroom at Denny’s

Show Notes:
Recorded Saturday, March 12 2011 (8:30 PM – 11:00 PM) at Schmoe’s Cantina Dos, Dearborn MI
“Mickey goes to Schmoe’s Cantina Dos for the lowdown on the Kalamazoo road trip, ticket buying plans, and a recap of the second Sydney concert. (The Roger Clyne podcast starts at 3:39.)

Two shows in a week! Just trying to make up for missing all of February.
00:25 – Roger Clyne and PH Naffah performed at The Strutt in Kalamazoo on Wednesday, March 2
06:01Chad Heckler on Facebook | Chad Heckler’s Custom Guitars
07:26my TwitPic photo (taken at Vreeland Market, before going to Schmoe’s Cantina. Now that I think of it, I should go take a photo of my vandalism)
    14:20Mickey’s Audio Island
14:39 – wrong again. It was the 1998 Winter Tour (which, in my defense, was at least a continuation of the “Havana Daydreamin'” tour) and tickets went on sale on a Tuesday and not a Monday.
15:21 – their behavior inspired us to write some parody songs, one by Mike and one by me
    20:34Swine Not, from Amazon
    21:04Swine Not, for the Nook
21:30According to Trading Stocks, Borders is closing their Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Grosse Point, and Utica locations. Schmoe, however, has reminded me there are three Borders in Ann Arbor, and the one closing is in the Arborland Mall. “For the record,” he writes, “the huge. two-floor, campus Borders is staying open and the one on the outskirts, right near US-23 and the Ypsi borderline, is the one closing.”
    22:17Leah Flanagan
    31:59 – a time jump
40:04 – another time jump (Jimmy was about to introduce “Bama Breeze”)
41:56 – an obvious time jump
42:30 – if you hear the crowd chanting then you’ve got the corrected version of this episode. An incomplete edit was online for a couple hours, by mistake.

Episode 142: A Two-Man Operation

Show Notes:
Recorded Wednesday, March 9 2011 (10:30 PM – 11:30 PM) at Zodiac Racquet Club, Southgate MI
“After an unplanned month-long break, Mike and Mickey take up the slack and record something at last — if only to share the last concert roundup for 2010 and the first for 2011. (Special guest: Jennifer.)

00:55 – for example, Mike had to take a night off for his anniversary, Mickey had a friend visit from California, Schmoe had a sick day or two, etc.
    03:07 – Buffett World’s announcement on Twitter
    03:14 – WOMC’s announcement
07:08 – “Buffett’s Panama Vacation“, at Buffett News

07:27 – “Buffett Jazz Fest Poster Unveiled“, from Buffett News | “2011 Jazz Fest Poster Features Buffett“, from Buffett World
07:572011 poster order page — come on, it’s only nine hundred bucks!
    09:22Mike’s Circuit City ad
10:40 – having Elvis play behind the introduction to the Las Vegas show was a completely unplanned
    15:01 – a time jump
    15:25 – another time jump
15:37 – an old story, but included for the f-bomb
29:01 – Jimmy’s “20 years ago today” and banter followed “Brown Eyed Girl” and preceded the band introductions
35:05 – Jimmy made this same mistake throughout the song
37:52 – “Growing Older But Not Up” was the last song but “Louisiana 1927” just seemed a better ending for the montage
    39:30 – again, the one-and-only Schmoenade recipe
40:43 – “February is second snowiest recorded“, according to the Detroit News, February 26 2011.
