Behold the power of the Internet. The new album isn’t out till Tuesday, but since
AOL is downstreaming it I’m able to listen to
Far Side of the World as I type this. It’s too soon to offer any serious review, but I can say I’ve taken an instant liking to pretty much every song. The band sounds great and there’s a nice variety to the song selection. I might eventually tire of Jimmy’s “White Man Rap” (such as on “Altered Boy” and “Autour De Rocher”, the latter of which by the way sounds a bit too much like “Jamaica Mistaica” but it’s got a nicely unexpected and infectious riff), but I can imagine myself playing this album a lot this Summer — especially to make up for the fact Jimmy is skipping a concert in Michigan again. (I know, I’ve whined about this already, but I can’t resist another rant.)
Happy listening…
