I learned something interesting today. Two things, actually. The first, chronologically, was that there are no “Saddam Hussein Dance” pages (whereas there are several Bush Dance pages), so I was forced to make my own (crude) animated GIF. The second thing is that getting animated GIFs to look good in Internet Explorer is very difficult. The browser dithers the image too much, so that parts of the animation lag and look like crap. I ended up having to leave my transparent background untransparent to make rendering easier. And I couldn’t even try and compress the GIF because that caused IE to dither it too.So I apologize to everyone for creating an ugly bloated GIF — let alone for filling my page with GIFs to begin with. As consolation, let me point out that only four more entries to go after this one and these GIFs will be relegated to a different page.
