Politicking

That great day has come again; the day that makes you proud to be an American. No, not Super Bowl Sunday. It’s Election Day! The day when you get to have your say, when your voice matters, and your vote counts*!
Actually, it’s rather difficult to get worked up over today’s elections, even though we’ll be electing a new governor here in Michigan. I and a friend debated the merits of the candidates over the weekend. I thought the Republican had reprehensibly negative commercials (not even dealing with any facts) and he thought the Democrat has big ears. About the only contest to stir up any interest is the Attorney General race between, of all names, Cox and Peters.
I’ve heard they’re going to have it out together and see who measures up.
There seem to be a lot of phallic-based names in politics. Dick Luger for example, or Dick Cheney. Or a former gubernatorial candidate I voted for just because of his name: Dick Headlee. It seems bizarre grown men still use that nickname; but then again, they’re politicians so maybe they just want to get the name-calling out of the way from the outset.
I don’t know. Just something to think about while poking the hole or pulling the level.
