AICN has some
great news about the upcoming Extended Edition of
The Two Towers on DVD. The
FOTR Extended Edition assuaged a lot of the problems I had with the first movie, and it looks like
this release will do the same. A lot of the scenes I missed — Sam and Frodo scaling the cliff with the Elven rope, the Ent Draught, the
huorns [YES!], Faramir sighting his slain brother, and even Merry and Pippin ransacking the Isengard larders [
quite unexpected] — are reportedly reinstated.
Most excellent news!
November 18 cannot come fast enough. (That said, neither, of course, can December 17.)
Also, some other interesting news I gleaned recently is that Howard Shore will be recording the
Return of the King score in August. It will include more of a male choir sound than the first two scores.
