Welcome to another episode of ‘World Traveling with Joe Asteriou’
So, they keep us pretty busy here in Ecuador. Our trip last weekend was to Guajalito, a privately owned nature preserve, run by one of our profs at the university.
This place is AMAZING!! Picture, in your little minds, a jungle, an ecuatorial jungle. This is it, it’s wet, it’s muddy, and it’s got shit growing EVERYWHERE!! We had to do a lot of cuadrent-making so I went in there, machete in hand (ecology in ecuador is a little different),and made us some damn cuadrents!! We got to hike around a lot, looking at toucans and other random forest creatures.

Also, we hiked up this little muddy river which surprisingly led to an 80m waterfall! B-e-a-utiful. Of course, some rude students pushed me under it and I was forced to walk back to camp with rubber boots full of agua.

As a note to all of the kzoo kids, watch out for those damn people from the international programs office coming to visit. Granted, I got a free meal out of it, but just be warned, you could be in for some boring conversation.

This next weekend I plan on staying home, which sounds wonderful. I plan on sleeping at least 50 hours. Also, there is an interesting exposition concerning natural healing taking place in Quito which I want to check out. Should be very interesting.

Have a wonderful time in the meantime,

Joe

ps. I’m sorry if I’m missing E’s. This keyboard sucks.
