    According to this article at WebMD, it’s perfectly natural for me, at my age, to break a couch or two. A person’s metabolism begins to slow down after 40 till around 60, causing weight gain. It’s recommended to cut a daily intake by 100 calories to counteract this. Interestingly, the opposite happens after age 70, where the metabolism increases and people begin to notice a loss in weight. Unfortunately, after age 70 or 80, that’s not the only sense of loss.
