This Bites

Another fast food restaurant makes a dumbass menu change. First Wendy’s wasn’t selling their fish sandwich during Lent and now, today, I find Arby’s has stopped selling Jalapeño Bites. This is particularly upsetting, since the Jalapeño Bite was my favorite Arby’s item. The Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich, Jalapeño Bites, and a medium pop were the perfect tasting Arby’s combo. And now that pleasure has been taken from me. It is most heartbreaking…and I’ve already sent my e-mail to Arby’s to urge them to reconsider their harsh, unfeeling decision and restore those tasty Jalapeño Bites to their menu.
P.S.: I probably shouldn’t’ve mentioned I like their Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwiches. They’ll probably screw me over on those too!
P.P.S.: I really have no idea why I’m suddenly compelled to use smilies today …     [4:25 PM. Friday, June 11 2004]
Update: I got a response from Arby’s today, with echoes of the Wendy’s scandal. Once again the parent company is pawning off responsibility. “The item you are referring to is an ‘Optional Item’. This means it us up to individual Franchise Owners to decide if they want to carry it.” Which raises the question, wouldn’t the counter people know if the decision to remove a menu item was made regionally or by their own manager?
I’ll be checking other Arby’s in the area to see if Jalapeño Bites are still available. The fight goes on.
