Christopher Reeve
(From the Independent)
It is with much sadness we mark the passing of actor Christopher Reeve, who died on Sunday. We had great hopes that he might somehow recover from the quadriplegia he had endured for nine years and might some day walk again. Now that fight is over and he has lost his chance. It’s tempting to use Reeve’s death as a way to take a swing at our current administration’s stand on stem cell research; however I much prefer to think of him as not wheelchair bound, but as Richard Collier, time-traveling suitor to Elise McKenna, or, of course, as Superman.
To Christopher Reeve. Bid time return.
