I can’t even say I’m that interested in seeing the movie, but for the last couple days I’ve become obsessed with finding out the (requisite) twist ending of M Night Shyamalan’s The Village. The movie is presumably about a tribe whose elders have taught them not to go into the forest that surrounds them; yet, of late…strange noises are coming from the forest.
As far as I can tell from my research, the movie could possibly end with…
…the townspeople discovering the noises are in fact a construction crew preparing to destroy their homes. But this punchline is so lame that I can’t imagine anything but opening night riots if that truly is the capper. My best guess is that the movie really ends with Captain Kirk beaming down and giving the primitives their autonomy by teaching the women how to kiss.
P.S.: I guess I’m used to Will Smith movies being mammoth big-budget blockbusters. I can’t get over I, Robot though. I’ve seen PC games with better special effects! (Not to mention turning Asimov’s concepts into a Summer action movie is an almost unforgivable bastardization.)
