Ho ho ho! Only coal for you, sonny!
You’re challenging yourself this year and having a fabulous time of it. You make a big purchase in the next 10 weeks. Family members are extremely appreciative of your efforts to help them in December. Business allies help you raise your income in the new year. Romance is in the impromptu decisions you make, especially in February.
By the time the holidays are over you will feel confident that you have paid your dues and that a trying or stressful period of your life is finally over. In February, what seems like a minor bit of advice or an unimportant proposal could prove to be of long-lasting benefit and far-reaching consequences. If being in the public eye is important to you, be prepared for ample publicity and a wider circle of friends starting in April. New connections formed next spring could give you a chance to strut your stuff in a bigger and more lucrative arena. Uranus, planet of the revolutionary change, could trigger a positive and powerful alteration in the direction of your life next year.
If freedom is important to you then you will have to fight for it over the coming 12 months. Some people seem to believe they have the right to take over your life but they have no more right than you allow them to have. You are a free and independent spirit. And if you’re not you should be.
Happy Birthday: This can be your best year yet if you pull together everything you have worked on so diligently throughout your life. Now is not the time to step back and let someone else take the lead. It\’s your turn to take what you want without feeling guilty. Your intensity will make others take note. Your numbers are 8, 11, 20, 26, 27, 39
Birthday Baby: You have a way of getting to the bottom of things and turning any wrong into a right. You are just, hardworking and can play the role of a peacemaker. You are unique, original and a visionary.
This is the year you’ll move out of the shadows and into the spotlight, Scorpio! A deeper understanding of yourself will urge you to take new risks and express your true self fearlessly, thanks to your spirit guide, the Otter. The coming months hold lots of interesting experiences, like new friendships, deeper involvement in group activities, and travel to unusual places. It’s your nature to want to do it all, but to maintain a sense of balance, you’ll have to stick with your daily disciplines and make a conscious effort to nurture yourself. Sign up for a class or training seminar to add focus and momentum to your career goals. Someone from your past will show up asking for a second chance, but you’ll have to say no given the more important commitments you’ve made. An illusion regarding money or the potential for greater income could prove very disappointing, so listen to your intuition – it will protect you. Surround yourself with your power color, green, to attract more love and money this year. Your lucky months are December and April. Your lucky numbers are 6, 12, 20, 23 and 39.
For Immediate Release Statement by the President Today, on the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, the United States declares its strong solidarity with torture victims across the world. Torture anywhere is an affront to human dignity everywhere. We are committed to building a world where human rights are respected and protected by the rule of law. Freedom from torture is an inalienable human right. The Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment, ratified by the United States and more than 130 other countries since 1984, forbids governments from deliberately inflicting severe physical or mental pain or suffering on those within their custody or control. Yet torture continues to be practiced around the world by rogue regimes whose cruel methods match their determination to crush the human spirit. Beating, burning, rape, and electric shock are some of the grisly tools such regimes use to terrorize their own citizens. These despicable crimes cannot be tolerated by a world committed to justice. Notorious human rights abusers, including, among others, Burma, Cuba, North Korea, Iran, and Zimbabwe, have long sought to shield their abuses from the eyes of the world by staging elaborate deceptions and denying access to international human rights monitors. Until recently, Saddam Hussein used similar means to hide the crimes of his regime. With Iraq’s liberation, the world is only now learning the enormity of the dictator’s three decades of victimization of the Iraqi people. Across the country, evidence of Baathist atrocities is mounting, including scores of mass graves containing the remains of thousands of men, women, and children and torture chambers hidden inside palaces and ministries. The most compelling evidence of all lies in the stories told by torture survivors, who are recounting a vast array of sadistic acts perpetrated against the innocent. Their testimony reminds us of their great courage in outlasting one of history’s most brutal regimes, and it reminds us that similar cruelties are taking place behind the closed doors of other prison states. The United States is committed to the world-wide elimination of torture and we are leading this fight by example. I call on all governments to join with the United States and the community of law-abiding nations in prohibiting, investigating, and prosecuting all acts of torture and in undertaking to prevent other cruel and unusual punishment. I call on all nations to speak out against torture in all its forms and to make ending torture an essential part of their diplomacy. I further urge governments to join America and others in supporting torture victims’ treatment centers, contributing to the UN Fund for the Victims of Torture, and supporting the efforts of non-governmental organizations to end torture and assist its victims. No people, no matter where they reside, should have to live in fear of their own government. Nowhere should the midnight knock foreshadow a nightmare of state-commissioned crime. The suffering of torture victims must end, and the United States calls on all governments to assume this great mission. |
