She’s Got Legs

During our traditional stop at Victoria’s Secret, during our 23rd annual Guys’ Shopping Night, last Friday, I learned that a friend of mine has a special fondness for model Adriana Lima. In fact, he’s quite taken with, of all things, the gap between her legs when she poses. He’s such a fan of it that we spent much of the evening trying to come up with a better term to describe it.
And here’s some of what we came up with (that I can remember):
  • Runway
  • The Keyhole
  • The Slot
  • The Groove
  • Crotchal Space
  • Cup Holder
  • Living Daylights
  • Point Spread
  • Vertical Limit
  • Continental Divide
  • Cumberland Gap
  • Snatch Gap
  • Between the Uprights
  • Magnetic North
  • Easy Access Portal
  • Jeffries Tube (for Star Trek nerds)
  • Handspan
  • Banana Split
  • Northbound Thighway

Photo I.D.

My coworker Matt asks if the woman pictured on the left, photographed for the Detroit Free Press at a Ciao Bella fashion show in July, is the same woman on the right, who, in December, is also in the Detroit Free Press for the hit and run killing of a bicyclist in Royal Oak.

The same?

Happy Birthday to Me!

It doesn’t seem that long ago I wrote my last birthday entry. This means the years are going by faster or I’m not writing enough. I suspect the latter. Therefore I’ll keep the list short this year.
Here’s what the Detroit Free Press horoscope, written by Holiday Mathis, has to say about my upcoming year: “You really walk your talk this year and make remarkable progress to long held goals. A strong supporter helps you maintain your motivation. You’re thinking globally and acting locally through December as you make choices to benefit the planet. A loved one makes a big affectionate gesture in July.

Happy 60th Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

My mom and dad celebrated their 60th anniversary on Wednesday; but, today, Sunday, the whole family came together for an anniversary brunch. Here, my mom shows off the dress she wore sixty years ago for the wedding.

    Gotta love those ’40s fashions!

Quick, Get Me Video of Walter Reed! No, the Other Walter Reed!

I too kept wondering why the RNCC kept showing that mansion façade behind McCain last night. (And after ten minutes I was wondering if they could show other channels to watch.) Turns out there was a reason … just not a very good reason. Apparently they meant to show video of Walter Reed military hospital but ended up with video of Walter Reed Middle School. You have to read this to believe it.
I wonder if this kind of half-assed web search explains their VP pick.

Nick & Heather’s Wedding (Highlights)

The wedding was last year, and I’m too late for their anniversary, but for some reason I felt compelled this weekend to take my old HD footage and make a mini-movie.
It took me two days before I got a decent export out of FCP, and the video still doesn’t play too well for me through Vimeo. Is it playing okay for you?

WJR Tigers March

Yes, it’s well known the Internet Makes You Stupid®, but sometimes it can be your friend. I was just reminiscing about an old sound from childhood when I realized I should see if I could find it online. And lo and behold I could and did. I had to do a little editing of the original MP3 I found, to get it the way I remembered it, so I figured I might as well share the final product here.
Here it is. The march they used to play on WJR 760 AM before Detroit Tiger games.
Download the MP3 of it here.

Dearborn Fireworks: 2008

My SFG podcast is showing signs of life again. After a couple years absence, I finally made it back to the Dearborn Homecoming city festival this weekend. I’ve also loved their incredible and impressive fireworks, and this year’s display did not disappoint. Here’s the grand finale, from Saturday, August 2 2008.
Update: on August 26 2008, I deleted the original embed and replaced it with this HD version. My poor four-year-old G5 can barely handle it (mainly since Adobe’s Flash for Mac sucks) but maybe it looks better on your computer.
