Just like with the last NewEgg.com shipment, Fed Ex couldn’t deliver it since there was no one to sign for it. Therefore I missed out on getting my P4C 3.0GHz processor today — a day earlier than expected too.
Note to self: Put this on in the Farts & Cannibalism category. Schedule be damned. I can’t wait. Besides, I just saw Intel’s plans for new chipsets and I want to get my computer up and running before it’s already obsolete.

It’s always the little things, I guess. I thought the expense of it would be my big stumbling block in putting together my computer; but in fact the thing that had me most stymied was how to screw all the fans in place. My clear acrylic case is too thick for the screws that come with the fans. I don’t know much about tools and hardware stores, but I assumed these fan screws were rather unique — they have wider threads, by the look of it — so I wasn’t sure I could get longer ones at Home Depot. But it turns out the company where I got the case, C3, sells screw sets specially made for mounting fans in their cases. I found some yesterday morning (Saturday), in my bag of supplies, and they worked perfectly! I quickly ordered some more sets, along with a few odds and ends (like a motherboard speaker, since it looks like I lost mine already; and some extra thumbscrews). Ironically, the UPS shipping is about the same amount as my order, but at least I have the peace of mind that I really will be able to put everything properly in place.
A lot of my daily reads are already discussing plans for the upcoming Blogathon. It’s still two weeks away, but it’s already kind of exciting — especially since it seems so many sites are involved.
I still haven’t gotten around to writing up my 2003 setlist page, mostly because I’m still waiting for my friends to FTP their concert photos. I took some pictures too, but only of the goings-on before and after the show.
Way too many of my favorite blogs have been disappearing. Reportedly, the blogs have been overrun with criticism and abuse; so much so that the webmasters have decided to shut down their blogs, close up shop, and retire to a small farm where they can leap about in the sunlight and chase butterflies. Well, perhaps not that last part — that’s just something my parents told me when my fish died…which, come to think of it, doesn’t make much sense.
You Know You’re Fat When: you switch to shoes with Velco straps to save yourself the trouble of tying your shoelaces (or bending over to tie your shoelaces). It’s gotten to the point of cliché, the joke where the fat guy orders a whole litany of food and caps it off with the addition of a diet Pepsi. I guess people think this is a joke because the fat guy is obviously deluding himself that the diet Pepsi somehow justifies the inclusion of all that fattening food. That this particular beverage is some panacea which will make it all better.
