I am still trying to decide between three different motherboards. The lead seems to have narrowed somewhat, with the latest news that the new BIOS for MSI’s 875P Neo-FIS2R can actually kill the motherboard! That latest BIOS has been removed from MSI’s site, but a replacement is not planned for days. As a guy named Icky said on the MSI forum: “Maybe we don’t hear from MSI here because MSI’s computers all have their MOBO’s installed and they can’t get any of thier puters to boot????????????”That still leaves tossing a coin over the Gigabyte or Asus boards.
By the way, Asus seems to confirm what MSI said (and which I made note of in the previous “My New Computer” entry), that I’m limited to two 512MB DIMMs or four 256MB DIMMs. You can see the chart at the bottom of this page.
