I HATE ATI!

Jesu Christo, I can’t believe how long it took to make this entry! I captured this video Friday night, from the Late Show on CBS, but I mistakenly recorded it as one of ATI’s stupid propietary “.vcr” files. And since then I’ve spent the weekend downloading various shareware and freeware utilities trying to convert it into something useable! (TMPGEnc was no help at all, but VirtualDub at least allowed me to make some progress.)
Amazingly, I only finished converting the file this morning. So here it is, three days late: the Top Ten list from Friday:
But it still irks me that ATI’s default setting is to record video in their useless “.vcr” format. Even their so-called MPEG-2 conversion creates an equally useless file, unable to be read by most editors. It stands to reason that if they’re going to force their users to use a propietary format, then ATI should at least offer their own editing software, so one can at least do something with the videos one records.
