“Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed”

Guess what’s in my DVD player. Yep, that’s right, the multidisc set for which I’ve been waiting several months: … Season 4 of Mr Show.
I did go to the store Tuesday to get the Star Wars box set, but something went wrong. I realized I wasn’t interested enough to be won over by the hype. Thanks to TNT’s and USA’s constant overplaying of the trilogy, I don’t need and don’t care to see these movies again for a long long time, no matter how cleaned up they are.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t dislike the Star Wars movies — heck, you little punks probably grew up watching it on VHS, but I saw the first one six times, in a real theater, the year it came out. And I’m not boycotting the box set (although the news from The Digital Bits is almost reason enough), because I’ll probably force a family member to get it for me for my birthday or for Christmas. It’s just that with all talk about people clamoring to get their hands on the box set, I’m feeling contentedly contrary right now.
