Birthday Blogging

Happy Birthday to me! Another year older and deeper in debt. It’s time to change the age on all my message board profiles. And it’s time to check all the “Today’s Birthday” horoscopes and find out what’s in store for the coming year. Here’s the lame and tame write-up from Eugenia Last in my daily paper, the Detroit Free Press:
Sitting on the fence will lead nowhere this year. Make your move in a powerful and positive manner. You will instill confidence in those who are willing to support your actions. [So that advice works only for people with my birthday? Actually that whole “you will instill confidence in people who are already confident in you” sounds a lot like Bush’s “I will reach out to everyone who shares our goals”. — Does that mean I’m getting political capital today?!]
Jeraldine Saunders, in the Washington Post says:
IF NOVEMBER 9 IS YOUR BIRTHDAY: It is entirely possible that in the coming year you will feel younger and more vibrant than ever. Your imagination is strengthened, so not only is your creativity enhanced but you will also have the capacity to identify with the plight of others. This developing empathy may widen your horizons and enrich your spiritual life. Watch for beneficial people and situations in May or early June that can help you make your most heartfelt desires grow into reality. [Yay, I’m going to see a naked lady next summer!]
Holiday Mathis, at the Chicago Sun-Times, has this to say:
IF NOV. 9 IS YOUR BIRTHDAY: This is going to be a very action-packed year for you, with lots of new projects to tackle. If you get started right now, you’ll receive accolades and honors in February and March. Challenges in late spring will yield a fun and exciting summer and fall. [Pah, that sounds like too much work.] For the most part, you’re in for a passionate and very enjoyable love life this year. [Wow, you almost had me going there.] Your lucky numbers are 1, 15, 34, 49 and 33.
Meanwhile, Georgia Nichols, also at the Chicago Sun-Times says:
IF NOV. 9 IS YOUR BIRTHDAY: Rhythm and blues singer Sisqo (1978) shares your birthday. [At last! The reason for my existence is revealed!] Because you know how to appreciate the moment, sometimes others are hypnotically magnetized to you. (You know how to have fun!) You live close to the edge because you love of the thrill of discovery. The year ahead can be one of the most powerful years of your life. [I think this is Sisqo’s.]
And here’s Sally Brompton, at the New York Post:
The moon’s eclipse of Jupiter on your birthday will either be profoundly inspiring or profoundly depressing, depending on whether you are the kind of Scorpio who sees the glass as half full or half empty. [What about the Scorpio who sees the glass as twice as big as it needs to be? (Thank you George Carlin.)] The fact is, it is your own attitude that creates your environment. If you want the world to be a nicer place, be a nicer person. [Well screw you then! (Sheesh, what’s with this confrontational attitude?)]
    Finally, here’s what Australia’s astrology.com< reports:
Your personal ruling planet is Mars.

You are governed by the bold and energetic Mars which brings to the fore your active, passionate and impulsive nature. The upside is you do not like laziness of any sort so work and physical activity are activities at which you excel. [Errrm…no.]

Your lucky colours are red, maroon and scarlet and autumn tones. [Actually that’s not far wrong.]

Your lucky gems are red coral and garnet. [Once again, not bad. My high school ring is garnet. (And my least favorite bird is the gannet. They wet their nests.)]

Your lucky days of the week are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. [Those aren’t the weekend, silly.]

Your lucky numbers and years of important change are 9, 18, 27, 36. 45, 54, 63, 72. [Well now you sound like Schoolhouse Rock.]

Famous people born on your birthday include Ivan Turgenev, Ed Wynn, Tommy Dorsey, Hedy Lamarr, Spiro T. Agnew and Tony Slattery. [Don’t forget Sisqo!]
