This is a new low: in a narrow vote, House Republicans voted down an amendment [H.R. 3058] that would explicitly bar the federal government from lying to Congress. Nine Republicans and all Democrats voted for the measure — but the GOP leadership made sure that there were enough GOP votes to defeat the measure.

You’d think if the House can pass a pointless PR stunt like the flag burning amendment they could also pretend to support honesty in government. But who am I kidding. Bush’s bullshit is a more protected form of expression than our own First Amendment rights.
