    According to this article at WebMD, it’s perfectly natural for me, at my age, to break a couch or two. A person’s metabolism begins to slow down after 40 till around 60, causing weight gain. It’s recommended to cut a daily intake by 100 calories to counteract this. Interestingly, the opposite happens after age 70, where the metabolism increases and people begin to notice a loss in weight. Unfortunately, after age 70 or 80, that’s not the only sense of loss.

The Newlyweds Return

    Bigtime Something Awful writer and occasional SFG commenter Frolixo and his new bride Silverrain or Pocketsheep or Taterpants or whatever her name is this week are back from Mackinac Island, where they were joined in wedded bliss on May 6. No photos of the ceremony yet, but they did post some honeymoon photos — a few of which I have stolen from the Super Evil boards and posted here, along with Frolixo’s commentary…
    First, the bride: Jennifer.

    The groom: Reid.

“Me taking a rest on a bridge. The water was dark red from all the iron. ‘If this was Civ I would make a city on this lake and build swordsmen’, I thought to myself, and then thought about suicide.


    And Mackinac Island itself. A view from Fort Mackinac: that’s Marquette Park in the foreground. Ferries arriving with tourists from the mainland cross the Straits and pass by the little Round Island Lighthouse. The hazy land on the horizon is Michigan’s Lower Peninsula.
    (Man, I need to get back up there some time soon!)

    “I return home bearing treasure from the far north! I bought a tricorn hat and sign that has a picture of a squirrel eating a nut and it says ‘Welcome to the Nut House’. I plan to hang it over my computer.”

    At the risk of sounding twice my age, this site, RadioLovers.com, full of old radio shows available for download (and found via Jim Heid’s site), has me quoting all my Dad’s old tapes again. (He bought a series of cassettes of old radio shows.)

    No, the fattest people in the world are not the customers at my uncle’s breaded gravy restaurant. The world’s fattest people are from the Pacific Islands. And you can’t blame McDonald’s for it, the culprits turn out to be rice, Crisco, turkey tail, and Spam.

I’ll Be in Syndication for You

    I’m writing about Friends mainly because I feel obligated to write about Friends. I can’t say I love the show, I can’t say I hate the show. I was never a fan, yet as far as I know I’ve seen every episode. So, yes, I’ll be watching the finale, but I can’t say I particularly care about how it all ends. I would have been happy enough ending the series when Chandler and Monica started their relationship. Everything since then has just been treading water; and all the most recent complications (Ross & Rachel’s baby, Rachel & Joey’s relationship, Phoebe’s abrupt marriage) have had a tinge of desperation to them, as the producers try to breathe life into the series but fall flat. However, I don’t want to end up trashing the show. It was likable enough and had an appealing cast. But to be perfectly honest, a big reason I’ve kept watching was just to gauge how chilly it was in Monica’s apartment.

      Test how big a fast food junkie you are by identifying the logos in this quiz. Anyone who can’t guess all 26 doesn’t deserve to visit this here site! …At least, that’s what I would say if I been able to guess more than 20.
    Coincidentally, 20 out of 26 was also my score on this movie ads quiz.
    Here’s a hint: for restaurants, don’t bother using correct punctuation.
    Here’s another hint: for the movies, think of the home video covers more than the original posters.
    And a final hint: I’m sure the webmaster would appreciate the extra funds, but don’t get tricked into buying an answer.
