Diet Blog: Day One Hundred Something-something. I’ve reached a plateau. A few weeks ago I made it to 205. I went on vacation and ballooned up as high as 206½. I’m back down to 205, but I can’t get any lower. This is a mental plateau more than a physical one, since, as I said before, the diet is feeling so monotonous it’s getting hard to stop the snacking.
• I know most cars have CD players now, but a lot still have cassette decks — so why is it so difficult to find a head-cleaning tape?

• I came to the painful realization today that in a hot dog eating contest my limit would be a paltry four. This would be quite a humiliation for my stomach, Ed, if it weren’t his fault to begin with.
