TBA

I guess this is the first lull. It’s time to post but I am bereft of ideas.

I’m stuck in the sad situation
of having no blog inspiration.
    I have to post now
but on what, who, or how?!
My Muse has gone on vacation.

Maybe this means I need food.
Of course, any excuse will do…

And Now a Word from Frolixo

Frolixo told me he’d sponsor me if I write about how cool he is for 24 hours. This of course raises the question why can’t Frolixo be cool longer than 24 hours. But I will say he is cool. He is also published weekly — today in fact — at Something Awful, where he oftentimes provides valuable life lessons.

The First Whine

Come blog with me,
come blog, come blog away
If you can type some meandering tripe
Or have got choice words to say
Then just blog it, Blogathon it, blog all day
    [bop-badop-bop]
Once you post your entry    etc. etc.

You know, this Blogathon stuff is trickier than I thought. It never occurred to me how busy it would all be. There’s just so much going on! E-mails coming in, other blogs to skim over, instant messaging, etc. Plus, by the time I finish writing one entry it’s time to start another. I thought the exhausting part would be staying up late — not keeping track of everything.

This Entry Takes Place Between the Hours of 11 AM and 12 PM

    Time for another limerick?
There once was a young girl named Beth
who couldn’t stop thinking of death.
    “I believe I will die
    if I fail to try
taking in my next lungful of breath.”
    Okay, maybe not.
By the way, Here is a Blogathoner who’s haikuing.

Proper Care and Handling

For the second time, NetFlix sent me a DVD last night that was unplayable. I was 57 minutes into the movie when it suddenly stopped, yanked me out of the story, and refused to continue. The back of the disc was covered in scratches — which made me wonder what the hell NetFlix customers do with their discs. Do they deliberately beat up on a disc just because it’s not theirs? I suppose that must be true, since the damage did not look like normal wear and tear. (Heck, apart from some thumbprints — and the inevitable laser rot — there shouldn’t be any wear and tear!)
Please, previous NetFlix disc viewer, just because you only have the disc for a couple days does not entitle you to “leave your mark on it” for posterity. Other people are relying on you, so here are some tips you might want to keep in mind:
    • When removing a disc from the NetFlix sleeve, do not use your teeth.
    • After placing the disc on the DVD tray, you do not need to grind it in with your hand. Your player will revolve the disc on its own.
    • Do not stick a ruler into your player to make sure the disc is still spinning.
    • Please keep the NetFlix sleeve handy for when you are done watching the movie. Do not tape the DVD to the bottom of your shoe and then walk up and down a dirt road before replacing the movie in its sleeve.
    • Although it resembles it in shape, your disc is not a lazy susan.
    • Do not use staples on your NetFlix disc.
    • Do not personalize your rental by trying to etch your name (or your pet’s name) into the disc.
    • Do not attempt to sand down a piece of wood with your disc.
    • Use the proper envelope to return your rental. Do not drag the DVD behind your car.

Causes

I’ve been checking out other sites in the Blogathon and I’m overwhelmed by all the great charities being supported. There are so many worthy causes that it feels daunting. I wish I could pledge them all, or that I could choose several other charities instead of just my one. Charities fighting cancer, depression, diabetes, hunger, illiteracy, or fighting for human rights and animal preservation. On one hand, it’s an undeniable depiction of how screwed up humanity is, that we need these agencies to protect us from ourselves; but on the other hand, it’s a nice thought that all it might take are a few bucks from everyone and all these problems could go away.
Here’s a list of Blogathon participants and their charities.

Operator? Operator! I’ve Been Cut Off!

Great. Too many people accessing the frykitty host site have crashed and disabled the Blogathon webring.
Update: Nope, it’s back. …For now, he added, ominously.
(P.S. The fact that I’m already talking to myself at such an early hour, he added, parenthetically, should not be construed as a bad sign I won’t make it through the night. I do this quite often; and in fact it’s the concept on which, and I hold no false illusions othewise, this whole blog is based.

Excuses, Excuses

A lot of fellow bloggers have put great thought into planning out today. They’ve created separate Blogathon 2003 pages, they will be writing about various themes throughout the day, they have elaborate stunts to perform if they get enough pledges.
I didn’t feel like creating a whole different blog page, or to even change my template for the day. About the most I did is create this separate category, so as to differentiate these entries. I did come up with a theme, but I never really planned on sticking with it to stringently, and that was to write limericks throughout the day. “Well, it sounded like a good idea at the time,” he said. defensively. At least I don’t think anyone else is doing it, but, yeah, it really isn’t all that “sexy” is it. I don’t think I’ll be relying on that gimmick anyway…because:
The Blogathon’s now underway
with 48 entries all the day.
    Though the fun’s just begun
    I feel like I’m done:
I’ve run out of things to say
